Huskies Sports Highlights for the Week Ending October 14, 2001

Kohlberger excels at net

Brittany Kohlberger turned in a strong effort at the net to power Dumont to a 2-1 win over Ridgefield Park in a BCSL - American Division girls volleyball match played on Wednesday. Kohlberger spiked 15 kills and was credited with eight blocked shots as the Lady Huskies won by scores of 15-11, 12-15, 15-9. Nora Marrakchi blasted five kills and delivered three service aces.
On Monday, the Lady Huskies defeated Cliffside Park 2-1 with Kohlberger delivering 11 service points and registering 11 kills as the net. Stephanie Sereno delivered 14 service points, including seven aces, blocked on shot and scooped up 18 digs as Dumont rallied to win by scores of 12-15, 15-11, 15-5.
Mike Schettig led a sweep of the first five places as the Huskies routed Engledwood 15-50 in a BCSL - American boys cross country meet held over Dumont's 3.1-mile course on Thursday. Schettig broke the tape in 27 minutes, 26 seconds. He was followed by teammates Phil Kang (17:40), Billy Fitzpatrick (18:09), Kyle Convoy (18:10) and Kenny McClinton (18:11).
In the girls competition, Dumont posted an 18-45 victory over Englewood as Felicia Chevilere led the way, posting the winning clocking of 19 minutes, 47 seconds. Finishing second was Sue Giesemann (19:59) with Malena Caballero (21:43) and Kathy Harihar (21:44) following in fourth and fifth place.
Northern Valley/Old Tappan ousted the Lady Huskies from the Bergen County Girls Soccer Tournament on Wednedsay, posting a 7-0 shutout. Jessa Bernbridge and Kristin Jakob, who shared trhe goalie's assignment, were peppered with a combined total of 26 shots on goal while their teammates only managed six shots on the Golden Knights cage.
Cliffside Park defeated Dumont 4-2 in double overtime on Monday. Trailing 1-0 at intermission, the Huskies received second half goals from Brian DelCorral and Brian O'Connor with Joe Billera and D-Ron Zviti picking up assists. Keeper Peter Elias was credited with five saves.

Huskies Sports Highlights for the Week Ending October 7, 2001

Giesemann, Chevalier pace Lady Huskies to Brett Taylor Invitational title

Sue Giesemann and Felicia Chevalier paced Dumont to the Varsity B Girls title in the Brett Taylor Cross Country Invitational contested at Darlington County Park in Mahwah on Saturday. Giessemann picked up the bronze medal with a time of 20 minutes, 29 seconds while Chevalier finished fourth with a clocking of 21 minutes, 29 seconds.
Kathy Harihar (23:15) and Malena Caballaro (23:43) finished 13-14 while Jaimee Militar (24:36) completed the team scoring totals with a 20th place effort.
In the Varsity B Boys Race, the Huskies Phil Kang placed fourth with a clocking opf 17 minutes, 56 seconds.
Marissa DeNederiros delivered 13 service points and scooped up five digs to spark Dumont to a 2-0 win over Queen of Peace in a BCSL - Amercican Division girls volleyball match, winning by scores of 15-4, 15-1.
Joey Ballera netted two goals and dished off three assists to power the Huskies to an 8-0 rout of Queen of Peace in a BCSL - American boys soccer match on Friday. Brendan Couglin added a pair of goals with William Bosch, Jimmy Dugan and Brent Lambert completing the scoring. Three keepers, Peter Elias, Michael Worden and A.J. Stewart combined for two saves in sharing the shutout "W" between the pipes.
Dana Jakob tallied a pair of goals and picked up an assist to lead Dumont to a 5-0 rout of Ridgefield Park in a BCSL - American girls soccer match played Thursday in Ridgefield Park. Sofia Capparelli added a goal and dished off two assists while Alysse Coughlin and Kim Wing Quan contributed solo goals and Christie Molta was credited with a pair of assists. Jessa Bembridge opened in the goal and stopped one shot before giving way to Kristin Jakob who preserved the shutout.

Huskies Sports Highlights for the Week Ending September 30, 2001

Chevalier races to bronze medal in Maroon Invitational

Dumont's Felicia Chevalier raced to a bronze medal finish in the Girls Group 1-2 Division of the Maroon Invitational contested at Garret Mountain in West Paterson on Friday. Chevalier completed the 3.1-mile course in 21 minutes, 16 seconds as she finished in third place.
Jackie Tiedena placed 18th with a clocking of 23 minute, 51 seconds and Malena Caballero finished 20th with a time of 24 minutes, 6 seconds as the Huskies finished fourth in the team standings. In the boys division, Phil Kang led the Dumont contingent to the finish line, placing 16th with a clocking of 18 minutes, 49 seconds while his teammate Mike Schettig finished 19th, turning in a time of 18 minutes, 59 seconds.
Utilizing a balanced scoring attack, Dumont defeated Fort Lee 5-2 in a BCSL - Amercian Division boys soccer match on Friday afternoon in Dumont. Deadlocked at 1-1 at the halftime break, the Huskies exploded with four goals in the second half to record their sixth "W" in seven outings. Joey Billera, Adam Bischoff, William Bosche, Gary Hemmer and Ron Zviti talled the goals with Billera picking up a pair of assists. Hemmer and Brian O'Connor were credited with assists while goalie Peter Elias came up with seven saves.
On Wednesday, Elias came up with three saves before turning the goalkeeping chores over to Mike Worden and A.J. Stewart, both of whom came up with solo saves to share the shutout victory between the pipes. Billera, Bosche, Jimmy Durkan and Brian del Corral netted goals with Bosche and Durkan registering assists.
