Hoffman, Kaiser medal in Metropolitan Invitational

April Kaiser picked up a silver medal and Greg Hoffman turned in a bronze medal performance in the Metropolitan Winter Track & Field Invitational contested at the Armory Track Center in New York City on January 30. Hoffman cleared the bar at 12 feet, 6 inches to place third in the pole vault competition. In the girls' division, Kaiser flipped the eight-pound ball 36 feet, 4 inches to pick up the silver medal in the shot put.
On the mat, the co-op Emerson/Park Ridge squad crushed Northern Valley/Demarest 66-16 on February 2. James O'Brien (103), Kris Bunomo (119), Nick Guarriello (125), Kevin Herget (140), Devin Skrable (145), Matt Conklyn (152), Cory Bensen (160), John Bednarz (171), Joe Geronimo (189), Justin Vitetta (215) and Max Meehan (285) won by pins with Meehan posting the fastest fall when he packed up and planted his opponent 25 seconds into the bout.
Park Ridge was ousted from the Bergen Jamboree on February 2 when Queen of Peace rolled to a 86-52 victory. Jesse Buckman was on target for the Owls, tossing a game-high 23 points through the rim, including five field goals from outside the three-point perimeter. Vince Richmond chipped in with a 19-point effort. Four days earlier, the Owls rolled to a 54-47 victory over Cresskill as Richmond netted a game-high 19 points. Buckman and Matt Misley added 10 points apiece with Danny Mohle scoring eight.
Mike Wuhrman bowled a 208 game but the Owls were edged 3-2 by Ridgefield in a BCSL - Olympic Division bowling match on January 29.
Surging to a 32-16 lead by the halftime break, Park Ridge defeated Ridgefield 49-37 in girls basketball. Jamie Kalfut tallied a game-high 16 points with Dana Carroll scoring nine, all of which came on a trio of treys.

Owls sweep relays in Zaccone Invitational

Park Ridge swept the relay races in the boys division of the Tom Zaccone Invitational contested at the Rothman Center on the campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University in Hackensack. The quartet of Brian Desmond, Ross Koehler, Sam Janssen and Matt Lingam broke the tape with the winning time of 3:41.6 in the 1600-meter relay. Desmond, Erik Antokal, Janssen and Lingam won the 3200-meter relay with a clocking of 8:41.2.
Jesse Buckman hit the hoop for a game-high 21 points including a trio of treys while Vince Richmond poured 20 points into the basket as the duo spurred the Owls to a 67-47 triump over Emerson in a BCSL - Olympic Division boys basketball encounter. The Owls put the suspense out of the contest by going on a 25-10 run in the opening quarter and the outcome was never in doubt as Matt Misley contributed a 13-point effort.
On the girls hardwood, Park Ridge cruised to a 43-21 triumph over Emerson after leading 10-3 entering the second quarter. Kelsey Wilmershoff netted a game-high 13 points while Jayme Mizzoni chipped in with a nine-point effort, including the team's only three-pointer.
Mark Wuhrman bowled a 223 game but Park Ridge was blanked 5-0 by Becton in a BCSL National/Olympic matchup.
